Privacy and retention
Privacy and data retention
freetempmail keeps message retention short, strips sensitive data from logs, and avoids ad-driven tracking. The service still stores the data it needs to receive and show recent mail, but it is built to minimize how long that data hangs around. For broader product details, reusable addresses, and active domains, read the About page.
What the service stores to work
To receive and display messages, the application keeps mailbox metadata, message metadata, and the raw email content needed for short-lived retrieval. That storage exists so the inbox can show recent mail and render message previews while the mailbox is active.
What stays in your browser
The frontend stores recent mailbox history and mailbox access state in your browser so you can return to a previously used inbox from the same device. Clearing local browser storage removes that local history.
Retention windows
- Messages are retained for up to 24 hours.
- When message data is deleted, whether you remove it or automatic cleanup does, it is permanently erased.
- Deleted messages are not kept behind the scenes and cannot be restored later.
No ads, no ad trackers
freetempmail does not run display ads across the inbox experience. The service is not designed around ad impressions, ad-tech scripts, or third-party marketing trackers.
Operational logs are intentionally reduced
Operational logs keep only the minimum detail needed to run and troubleshoot the service. Zero logs is usually a myth. Short retention with minimal detail is what protects privacy in practice.
That means no full recipient addresses, no full sender addresses, no raw subjects, and no message bodies in application logs.
Message previews and external content
HTML previews are rendered in an isolated frame, and external content stays blocked by default for your protection. Loading remote images or trackers can alert the sender that the message was opened and can expose details such as your IP address, device, or browser environment.
That protection stays on unless you allow external content for a specific message. Switch it on only when you trust the sender and the message needs remote images or other outside content. For the quick version of how tracker blocking works during temporary email signups and verification emails, see the FAQ.
What this page does not promise
freetempmail is meant for short-term inbox use, not long-term storage. If you need to keep email for the long haul or recover deleted messages later, use a regular permanent email service.
